BLK H.A.L.O.S.

Our Program

Blue Line Kids H.A.L.O.S. program is a part of National Alliance for Law Enforcement Support. We are dedicated to providing handmade quilts to all children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. Our goal is to create beautiful, comforting quilts that a child can hug, hold and use during their very difficult time. We serve all children from birth to 18 years old in the United States.

How You Can Help

We are always looking for people to partner with who have the wonderful talent of creating beautiful quilts. We like bright cheery quilts that are throw size for ages 0-18. Quilts can be gender neutral or gender specific.

All quilts and materials are tax deductible. We will gladly supply you with a tax receipt for your income tax filings.

If you would like to donate a quilt or materials to our program please email blk.halos@nalestough.org for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept hand-quilted, fleece or tied quilts?
We do not accept tied quilts due to the potential choking hazard that hand ties create and their inability to stand up to several washings. Quilts should be machine quilted for that same reason. Fleece is not acceptable because we want these quilts to last a lifetime.

What size should the quilts be?
We ask that they be lap size, or 4 ft. x 5 ft. or larger.

Is there anything I should not put on my quilt?
Your donated quilts can be any pattern but cannot include any religious or law enforcement elements. Of course, they also should not have wording that would make the recipient think we are celebrating their parent’s death.

Can I hand deliver or ship the quilt to the department myself?
Unfortunately, no. Each quilt is carefully checked for pins and loose threads. Records are kept regarding the number of quilts received and sent out. We have to make sure we have the proper data for each officer and each quilt is sent out no sooner than six weeks after his or her death.

My quilt is complete. Where do I ship it?

We have two locations. East and West coast.

East:
PO Box 21355
Durham, NC 27703

West:
